Balance your brain and optimize your life!
At the Santa Cruz Neurofeedback Center our goal is to help you live to your full potential. Whether you are seeking to increase focus or motivation, decrease anxiety, elevate mood, expand awareness, or simply wish to tune your brain for optimal performance, The Center can help you train your brain! Neurofeedback produces a long-lasting effect, without the substantial disadvantages of tolerance and side-effects common with medication. Neurofeedback (brainwave biofeedback) has been shown to help both children and adults with ADD/ADHD, OCD, PTSD, chronic pain, mood disorders, anxiety, stress, learning disorders, head trauma, and numerous other conditions. Many of the clients we see have tried a number of approaches, from talk therapy to prescription medications, with little or no relief.
At the Center, we have the latest in neurofeedback technologies available, which allow you to visualize the brain networks changing as you train them. You can even learn to change your brain by controlling a robot with your brain waves!
Neurofeedback is a scientifically-proven and highly effective method of optimizing brain function. A brain map (analysis of EEG data) shows which areas need trainings to encourage the brain to optimize, using video games or listening to music. Neurofeedback can help you improve focus, memory, manage stress, improve sleep, manage addictions, learn more effectively, reduce pain, enhance meditation skills, and create a state of “flow.”
Neuromassage is a unique therapeutic system combining bodywork and biofeedback developed by The Center’s Director, neuroscientist Langdon Roberts, MA, CMT. This technology-enhanced massage technique can be used to support clients with a wide range of conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders, muscle tension, chronic pain, sleep disorders, fibromyalgia, and trauma.
Biofeedback is a powerful tool for creating lasting change in the habitual activities of the nervous system. Heart-rate variability training is one of the biofeedback tools we use at The Center because it is effective for mood stabilization and enhancing awareness. We also use the classical biofeedback modalities, such as muscle tension training (EMG), skin conductance, and temperature training for relaxation and mood.
Psychotherapy is a great way to integrate neurofeedback trainings into your everyday life. At The Center, we offer psychotherapy rooted in mind-body (somatic) awareness. Unlike talk therapy, this mindfulness-based therapy can help you move beyond an intellectual understanding of yourself and into more conscious and embodied living.
Neuroscientist Langdon Roberts, MA, CMT, The Center’s Director, has over 17 years of experience of successfully helping clients with these conditions, even when multiple other approaches have been ineffective. What makes The Center unique is that we create a holistic and personalized program integrating the latest in biofeedback, neurofeedback, and entrainment technologies with a variety of approaches to healing such as somatic psychotherapy and neuromassage. Our highly skilled practitioners can support you in optimizing your growth. Additionally, The Center offers support for relationships (combining neurofeedback and couples psychotherapy), optimal performance (to excel in athletics, academics, or business) and spiritual development (for would-be meditators or longtime practitioners). For researchers engaging in physiological regulation, consciousness, and brainwave studies, we can provide scientific research support, analysis, and training services.
